Setting up a design studio is just another milestone in the 20-year long journey full of excitement, learning, challenges, failures and accomplishments, in the domain of the Textile industry.The timings could not have been better for connecting, knowledge sharing, engaging and collaborating with the people across the globe to achieve great work.
Established in 2020, Studio consists of a team of young and talented designers,artists and CAD specialists. We connect and work with design-driven clients to create beautiful, unique, trend-forward print collections for printed bedding, made-ups, rugs, wall-papers and fashion.
We at StudioLookCook aspire to create designs that enhance well-being, which are fresh, restful, transeasonal and integrate authentic artisanal processes and techniques into varied textures, styles, colours, print and patterns that evoke nature and different urban landscapes.
A typical day at the studio is about working on moodboards from clients, getting into the feel, researching for the right images, generating ideas,and techniques, making sketches, reviewing them with music running in the background, before the final concepts are shared with the clients.
So everyday we cook unique and beautiful looks for our customers. And when we are not busy with our deadlines we travel, explore, learn and study new trends and techniques to incorporate in Textile Design collections. In all we love and enjoy what we do.
It was summer 2000 when Ashok produced his first collection in Jaipur using Block Printing. Jaipur, famous for its printed Textiles. Working along with local artisans and learning the fine nuances of Bagru, Dabu and Sanganeri craft of Block Printing was a beautiful start for a Textile Design graduate from NIFT, Delhi.
After Jaipur, Ashok worked with many Delhi/Noida based Export Houses. It was here that he acquired the skill of combining printing, embroideries and wovens together to create exquisite textures, patterns and prints for Home-textile products.Than he moved to Ahmedabad to work for Arvind Mills in the shirtings department and gained thorough understanding of woven and printed garments.
Moved back to Delhi, Ashok joined a Buying House.Since most of the clients were importers and retailers from Europe & USA, product category and techniques were unlimited, Printed Bedding, towels, Rugs, Carpets, and Made-ups. Great exposure of working with factories from Panipat, Karur,Jaipur and Printing Mills in Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
Against this backdrop of experience and a belief of great opportunity to explore new techniques to create unique and trend-forward printed collections for Home and Fashion Textiles, this studio is launched.
